Betting markets: 4.5/5
We liked what we saw from Paddy Power's betting markets, with popular options such as football, tennis, motorsport, golf, cricket and a host of US options such as NBA, NHL and MLB all covered in full. There are a plethora of accompanying markets for each sport, offering various ways to get your account balance growing.
Horse racing is likewise covered extensively, including overseas race meetings in Australia, the United States, Japan and South Africa. Futures bets are particularly strong across the mainstream sports and can be made months, and even sometimes a year, in advance of major events starting.
There are even some alternative sports that might catch the discerning bettor's eye, such as Gaelic football, handball, e-sports and showjumping. We also came across multiple non-sports markets during our Paddy Power review, including the likes of TV shows, politics and major awards ceremonies.
If there's one drawback to Paddy Power's betting markets, it is that they are heavily focussed on UK and Irish sports. However, this is a nitpicky criticism given that majority of the customer base resides in the UK and Ireland.
Again, look for added value in sports markets that appeal to UK and Irish bettors. The rugby offering was particularly strong during our Paddy Power review, with generous odds available on international matches, Super Rugby and the Lions tour of New Zealand.
Odds are from a past event.
There was also plenty of value on offer in football and cricket, while the horse racing odds tended to be relative to major competitors. One area for improvement is US sports such as the NHL and NBA, where we noticed some lower odds than what was available at other major bookmakers.
To go with their competitive odds offering, Paddy Power is also renowned for frequently hosting money back specials across various sports.
Mobile app: 4/5
The Paddy Power sports app, available on iOS and Android, is a mini version of the website encompassing neat design and simple navigation that makes it easy to browse markets, check account details, contact support and more.
A pin login feature allows bettors to quickly access their account, while the live sports streaming module, which we elaborate on below in this Paddy Power review, is also fully integrated. Live stats and visualisations, a key part of the in-play service, work well on the mobile app.
Live betting & streaming: 4.5/5
Like any major bookmaker, Paddy Power has invested heavily in providing an expansive in-play offering. It most certainly does that across all of its sports, yet one way the company sets itself apart from the rest is through its ‘Flash Markets' initiative.
This exclusive feature allows bettors to wager on in-play markets that have a very short lifespan. An example we encountered during this Paddy Power review was in football, where we could bet on whether a throw in would take place over the solitary minute that the market was open for.
Flash markets are easy and fun to wager on, giving the sportsbook's live betting offering an edge over rivals. As for those that like to bet and watch, Paddy Power's live streaming module includes anything from major ATP and WTA tennis events to global football coverage across Europe, North America and Asia.
Horse racing and greyhound racing are also covered extensively, particularly for meetings in Ireland and the UK.
Payment options: 4.5/5
|Payment method||Minimum deposit||Transaction fee||Processing time|
|Bank transfer||£5||£5||24-48 hours|
Various payment options for both deposits and withdrawals, along with fair minimum deposits, all impressed during this section of our Paddy Power review. The fee imposed on bank transfer and cheque deposits, however, was a little bit unusual for such a high-profile bookmaker.
Customer service: 4/5
|Contact method||Live chat||Telephone|
|Access details||Access via the Contact Us page of website and app||1800 238 888 (Ireland)
08000 565 275 (UK)
|Availability times||24/7||8am-midnight – Monday to Saturday
9am-midnight – Sunday
Our Paddy Power review found that the website and mobile app contains a comprehensive support section, which is adorned by one of the most thorough FAQ pages you will find.
While the phone lines aren't available around the clock, accessing a customer representative comes without queues, and the same applies to live chat. Email responses generally come within 24-48 hours, which is also reasonable.
Overall rating: 4.5/5
There wasn't too much to dislike during our Paddy Power review. The sportsbook performs exceptionally well across the range of markets and in-play features available, while also boasting an excellent mobile app and live streaming.
The welcome offer is also impressive, with new customers able to get £20 risk-free on their first bet in the sportsbook.
|What we like||What we don't like|
|Strong welcome offer||Heavy focus on UK and Irish sports|
|Outstanding in-play betting features||Fee on some deposit methods|
|Good live streaming and mobile app||Phone support not available 24/7|
